Buddy Stanley

SHELBY: George “Buddy” Christian Stanley, 75, died Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Atrium Health Cleveland. A native of Richmond, VA, he was the son of the late Herbert George and Elizabeth Morris Stanley. Buddy served in the Army for two years and retired from Parker Hannifin in Forest City. He enjoyed having a garden in the summer and working in the yard until a change in his health. He was a simple man and a home body. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and sports. He really enjoyed watching the old classic western movies and listening to old classic country music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Stanley; granddaughter, Anna Marie Stanley; and grandson, Robbie Stanley. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Kathy “Kat” Watts Stanley of the home; son, Chris Stanley of Shelby; granddaughter, Jessie Stanley of York, SC; brother-in-law, Mike Watts and nephew, David Watts, both of Gaffney. Funeral services for Buddy will be held 12:00PM, Friday, February 18, 2022 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Paul Scott and Jim Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
