Mary Bell

October 6, 1924 — January 8, 2023

SHELBY: Mary Allen Bell, 98, went to her heavenly home, Sunday, January 8, 2023 at her home. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Emmit and Delilah Mayse Allen. She was a member of Westwood Heights Baptist Church, belonged to Shelby Women’s Club and was a dedicated Girl Scout Leader for many years. She retired from Doran Textiles and was active in the Republican Committee. She was an active volunteer in many community activities until she was in her late 60’s. Mary will be missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Marvus Bell; daughter, Linda Carol Scronce; sisters, Lucy Lucille Allen and Catherine Allen; and brother, Mitchell Allen. She is survived by her daughters, Betty Summit Beuhner and husband Wolfe of Mooresboro and Wanda Bell Hager Bridges and husband Bruce of Shelby; and 18 grand, great-grand and great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 12:30-1:30pm, Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00pm in Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. David Costner officiating.
