SHELBY: Philip E. Sinroll (80) formally of Sterling, IL. passed away Nov 5, 2022 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Home in Shelby, NC where he moved to be closer to family. He was born in Highlands Park, MI on Dec 9, 1941 and moved to Sterling as a young boy. He graduated from Sterling HS in 1960. During that time he worked at Singing Wheels Skating Rink that was their family business.
Phil was in the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and a Neuro-Psychiatric technician and was also a Company Honorman. He also went to college at Western Illinois University and graduated in 1967. After college he went to work for SAGA food service as a manager and trouble shooter for the company. Phil retired from SAGA after his wife passed away and moved back to Sterling to raise his daughters and later help his brother as a concessionaire at the White Sox Park in Chicago. Then later he became a local Realtor. Phil enjoyed wood working, going to auctions and helping people in need like visiting those in the nursing homes. He was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and helping with the Buddy Bag Program that fed local school children.
Phil is survived by his daughters, Machell Shear (Chuck), Stephanie Cox (Andy), Sister Jeanette Nicklaus, 7 grandkids, 12 great grandkids, 1 niece and 3 nephews. He is preceeded in death by his wife Wanda, parents Frank and Jessie Sinroll, brother Fred Sinroll, sister Carol Waters, brother in law Ted Nicklaus, grandson Chuck Shear Jr, Nephew Jason Sinroll and Nephew Ryan Waters.
In Liew of flowers Phil wanted contributions to be made to the Buddy Bag program that he was so passionate about at the First Presbyterian Church of Sterling. Memorial service will be determined at a later time.
