SHELBY-Ralph Sloan Elliott Jr., 71, died Friday, May 28, 2021 at Hospice of Wendover Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Ralph Sr. and Sarah Falls Elliott. Ralph was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He graduated from Shelby High School and Erskine College. Ralph retired as Chief of Probation and Parole for Cleveland and Lincoln Counties. Ralph was a Realtor with Allen Tate in Shelby. His true passion was being an Auctioneer. He co-owned Elliott Dixon Auctions since the early 80’s and auctioned with Godley Auction Company for 25+ years. He was also Mason and Shriner. He was an avid hunter and sportsman and enjoyed carving duck decoys with his friend William Hamrick. He was a charter member of Crestview Baptist Church and a member of the Prodigal Sons Sunday School class. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Brayden Sloan Nicholson. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Dixon Elliott of the home; daughter, Brooke Nicholson and husband Bam of Shelby; sister Sarah Helen Owensby and husband Chip of Kings Mountain; granddaughter, Piper Sloan Nicholson (his pride and joy); Nieces, Nikki Lowery, Sarah Wagman and Casey Owensby. Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Crestview Baptist Church with the Revs. Stan Webb and Artie Hubbard officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
