BOILING SPRINGS- Mr. Samuel Boyd Putnam, 81, of 210 Hillcrest Street, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at White Oak Manor, Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Jesse Malcolm and Laura McSwain Putnam. Mr. Putnam was in the US Airforce for 8 years and worked for Hamrick Brothers and Company for 40 years. He was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church and also a member of Friendship Lodge in Boiling Springs for 20 years. He loved his grandchildren, fishing, and golf.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 3 brothers; William, Jimmy, and John Putnam and 3 sisters; Inez Connor, Lena Baker, and Jessie Wall.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife Jean Riva Putnam of the Home, one son Steven Boyd and wife Donna of Waxhaw; two daughters Lori P. Lancaster and husband Tim of Shelby, and Cindy P. Evans and husband Phil of Greenville; five sisters Diane Padgett and husband Barry of Lattimore, Della Walker and husband Harry of Lattimore, Joann Bridges and husband Morris of Ellenboro, Patsy Johannessen and husband Howard of Polkville, and Jeanette Faraby and husband Raymond of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Taylor Lancaster, Ryan Lancaster, Nathaniel Evans, and Charlotte Putnam; and many nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends, Friday, July 2, 2010, 5:30-7pm at Boiling Springs Baptist in the LEC building, and other times at the home.
SERVICES: Services will be held 7pm, Friday, July 2, at Boiling Springs Baptist.
BURIAL: Burial will be held in Cleveland Memorial Park, 10am, Saturday, July 3.
