Loretta Jackson

LAWNDALE-Loretta Young Jackson, 78, died Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Atrium Health Main. Born in Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Vearl Barnette Young. Loretta was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, camping and eating out with her friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Steve” Jackson; brother, Dennis Young and wife Janet; sisters, Wilma Greene and husband Johnny and Sybil White and husband Joe. She is survived by her sons, Chris Jackson and wife Michele of Greensboro and Bryan Jackson and wife Christie of Grover; daughter, Kelly Vickers and husband Dale of Lawndale; grandchildren, Jada Terwilliger and husband Larry, Kyle Upchurch and wife Seirra, Christopher White and fiancée Taylor Foster, Maysa Jackson, Tanner Vickers, Mitchell Jackson, Kendall Jackson, Nikki Ivie; great grandchildren, Ava Reynolds, Kaden Nontell, Thomas Burton, Elizabeth Burton, Kalyana Upchurch, Olivia Upchurch, Xander White, Jensen White; also survived by brother, Terry Young and wife Mildred; sister, Lavonda Stringfellow and husband Bob; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 am, Monday, April 12, 2021 at Westview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Rick Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park. A visitation will be held 5-7 pm Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. During this time the family will be at the home of her daughter, Kelly Vickers, 326 Warlick Rd, Lawndale, NC, 28090. Those in attendance at the visitation and service may wear face masks and practice social distancing as they deem necessary.
