Mary Sue Carter

June 29, 1917 — January 15, 2007

SHELBY- Mrs. Mary Sue Blanton Carter, 89, of 1142 Bridges St., died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007 at White Oak Manor of Kings Mountain.

PERSONAL HISTORY: She was a native of Cleveland County and daughter to the late Julius “Flakey” Blanton and Lala Odell Putnam Blanton. She was a “Christian lady” and a charter member of Lily Memorial Baptist Church, where she taught the adult Sunday School class and served as a director of the W.M. U. She was retired from Lily Mill and was well known in the community for her coconut cakes and pies.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth F. Carter, her son, Charles Carter, and two brothers, Troy and Ernest Blanton.

SURVIVORS: Her caregiver and nephew, Horace V. Heffner, his wife Charlotte, and their daughter, Libby Nicole.

FUNERAL: A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Cleveland Memorial Park.
