Wanda Gettys

October 21, 1928 — February 4, 2008

SHELBY- Mrs. Wanda Faye Gettys, 79, of 13C Crescent Village, died Monday, February 4, 2008 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Cleveland County, a daughter to the late Dwella and Jessie Grant. Mrs. Gettys was retired form Fasco Controls and was also a homemaker. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Gettys, a brothers, Jack Grant and Bobby Bridges, a sister, Ella Mae Parish, step-mother, Ruby Bridges Grant, and daughter-in-law, Vicky Gettys.

SURVIVORS: She is survived by two sons, William Earl Gettys and wife, Linda, of Earl and James Steven Gettys of Shelby; four sisters, Dorothy Curry and husband, James, of Charlotte, Barbara Lail and husband, Earl, of Shelby, Patricia McSwain and husband, Ed, of Lattimore, and Jane Venter, of Grover; brothers, Dwella Samuel “Sam” Grant, of Weatherford, TX, Gene Bridges of Elizabethton, TN, Randy Grant, of Polkville, and William “Billy” Grant of Grover; two grandchildren, Christy Slone and Ashley Gettys, both of Shelby; and two great-grandchildren, Kayla Slone and Justen Hayes.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

FUNERAL: The funeral will be Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.

BURIAL: Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
