Alice Martin

April 4, 1931 — April 29, 2008

SHELBY- Mrs. Alice H. Martin, 77, of 501 Webber St., died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Mae Pack Hayes. She worked for over 35 years at Sacksville Mill and five years at Specialty Lighting. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she worked in the nursery for 25 years and was also a member of the Dilbert Lee Sunday School Class. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, a brother, Fitchue Hayes preceded her in death.

SURVIVORS: She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Allie Martin, Jr., of the home; a son, Jerry Martin and fiancée, Helen Darnell; a daughter, Faye Craft and husband, Phil, all of Shelby; a very special sister-in-law, Mildred Carpenter, of Kings Mountain; three loving sisters and brother, Louise Panther and husband, Clifford, of Grover, Ellen Emory, Ruby Emory, and Tommy Hayes and wife, Pat, all of Shelby; three grandchildren, Donnie Martin and wife, Glenda, of Shelby, Chris Craft and wife, Lisa, of Troy, Ohio, and Lisa Kale and husband, Jonathan, of Boiling springs; four great-grandchildren, Cody and Dylan Kale of Boiling Springs and Adam and Sydney Craft of Troy, Ohio; a special caregiver, Anne Martin, of Boiling Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Bethel Baptist Church and at other times at the home.

FUNERAL: The funeral will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Bethel Baptist Church.

BURIAL: A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2008 at Cleveland Memorial Park.

OFFICIATING CLERGY: Drs. Tim Sims and J.M. Ezell

MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.
