SHELBY- Mr. James Arthur “Art” Jones, Jr., 65, of 902 Pleasant Drive, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late James Arthur Jones, Sr. and Ruby Jones Warlick. He was a Master Plumber and served in the U.S. Airforce.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Chandler Deviney.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife, Zipora Liabman Jones, of Lod, Israel; three daughters, R. Renee Jones and husband, Robert Moffett of Wilmington, Sherry Jones Deviney and fiancé Dale Bradley, Jr. of Rutherfordton, and Karen Jones and husband, Robert Boyd, Jr. of Charlotte; two stepdaughters, Betty Kesterson and husband, Tom of Rutherfordton and Rita Causby of Columbia Falls, MT; two sisters, Beverly Watts and husband, Carl and Cindy Mullinax, all of Shelby; a brother, Jamie C. Jones and wife, Margaret L. Jones of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Amanda and Tonya Deviney, both of Rutherfordton; two great-grandchildren, Jaileigh and Keaton Deviney; several nieces and nephews; former wives, Jerri Shepherd of Cherryville, and Patsy Laughter of Rutherfordton; and his stepmother, Elizabeth M. Jones of Shelby.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 30, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Beverly Watts, 103 W. Debby Rd., Shelby.
FUNERAL: A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2008 at Bessemer City Cemetery.
BURIAL: Burial will be in Bessemer City Cemetery.
MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6000 Fairview Rd., #200, Charlotte, NC 28210.
