Bea Meacham

October 26, 1922 — January 22, 2021

Shelby-Beatrice (Bea) Hollifield Meacham, 98, has gone to be with the Lord and is celebrating eternal life and a reunion with her husband, Paul F. Meacham Sr., on Friday, January 22, 2021. Bea was born in Cleveland County to the late Cordie Lee and Mary Olivia Hollifield. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul F. Meacham Sr., a daughter Deitra M. Chapman and son-in-law John C. Chapman, brothers Faye Hollifield (Mary Sue), Everette Hollifield (Sarah), Kenneth Hollifield (Elizabeth) and sisters Lillian McDaniel (Mac), Ruth McDaniel (Gail), Ruby Parrish (Glenn) and Elizabeth Dillingham (Hugh).

Bea is survived by a son, Paul F. Meacham Jr. (Debbie) of Riverview, FL and a daughter Paulette M. Bradley (Mickey) of Shelby, N.C. Also surviving are grandchildren, Beverly Kingsbury (John), Kim Willis (Justin), Dan Meacham (Carrie), Brian Hester (Amy), Travis Bradley (Nikki), Kelli Webber (Matt), Kari Ellsworth (Ryan), Caleb Bradley (Alex), Tony Chapman (Renee), Kevin Chapman (Pam), Christy Harkey and 20 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

After graduating from No. 3 High School, Shelby, NC, she worked for Southern Bell Telephone, J.W. Woods Elastics, Union Carbide, and retired from Kemet. She has made many friends during her lifetime.

She was a member of Zoar Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years in the four and five year-old department.

She enjoyed working with her flowers and doing word search puzzles.

A graveside service will be held 2:30 PM, Tuesday, January 26, 2021 in Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev.Ernest Richards officiating.
Those in attendance at the service are asked to wear face coverings and practice social distancing.
