GROVER- Mrs. Bessie “Lucille” Porter Greene, 82, of 2414 Blacksburg Road, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at home. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late C.N. and Gertrude Champion Porter. She worked at Lilly Mill for many years and was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George S. Greene; a grandson, Eric Pettigrew; two brothers, Bobby and Albert Porter.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by a son Lorne Greene and wife Sandra of Mooresboro; three daughters, Brenda Page and husband Bruce of Shelby, Rita Davis of the home, Darlene Bumgardner and husband Harold of Polkville; sister Evelina Panther and husband H.K. of Shelby; two brothers Norman Porter and wife Brenda of Kannapolis, and Gene Porter and wife Joy of N. Augusta, SC; seven grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; special sister-in-laws, Jackie Cook of Shelby and and Joan Spencer and husband Richard of Oak Grove; special friends, John and Robin Byars and their two sons, John Michael and Daniel Byars; many nieces and nephews; many cousins and special friends; and her special pet Harley.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Thursday, May 13, 2010, from 6-8pm, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home.
FUNERAL: Services will be held Friday, May 14, 11am, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
