Betty Catherine Davis

SHELBY-Betty Catherine Kendrick Davis, 87, 1106 Martha Drive Monroe, NC, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, at the Levine & Dickson Hospice Home in Charlotte NC.
She was born in Cleveland County on February 15, 1930 to the late Hugh Quinn Kendrick and Luvicie Lowery Kendrick. At a young age her father nicknamed her Toots and that is how she is remembered by her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She graduated from Gardner Webb College with an Associate Degree in Business. She was married in 1953 and moved with her family to Monroe, NC in 1959. She was employed for over 30 years at Yale & Towne Lock Company where she assisted with the installation of the first computers. She was a faithful member of Sutton Park Baptist Church. More recently, she returned to her home church Pleasant Hill Baptist. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Lawson Irvin Kendrick.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Joe Roan Davis of the home; one daughter, Ellen Jones and husband, Allen of Wilmington, NC; one grandchild, Catherine; three brothers, Edwin, Lowery, and Joe Reid of Shelby; one sister Rebecca Borders of Rock Hill, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be held 1pm, Tuesday, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Andrew Corley.
