Betty Martin

CONWAY, SC: Betty Bowen Hemmingsen Martin, 90, died Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Conway. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow W. and Lela Queen Bowen. She retired as a nurse anesthetist and attended Sweetwater Branch Baptist Church in Conway. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald L. Hemmingsen and her second husband, Charles H. Martin; and her granddaughter, Amber Kathleen Hemmingsen. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila H. Yates and husband James; son, David L. Hemmingsen and wife Rilla; brother, Ron Queen and wife Sandra; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and close friends, Ray and Gerlean Rolfes. A private family service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Max Pendleton officiating.
