Bill Beattie

SHELBY: William L. “Bill” Beattie, 91, went to be with his Lord on December 10, 2021 at Atrium Health Cleveland. Bill was born on February 15, 1930 in Crouse, NC, to the late Lee and Mazel Beattie. He attended high school in Lincolnton, where he was active in football and intramural sports. Bill served two years in the US Army during Korea from 1952-1953, in the combat tank division. Bill was always known as a very kind and gentle man who never found fault with anyone. He always had positive comments about friends and relatives. Once when in a restaurant the waiter asked Bill if he wanted cream and sugar with his coffee, Bill replied he would take the cream but pointing to Mary he replied “I have my sugar right here”. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Betty; sisters, Sue Copas and Lou Rhodes; and one brother, Glenn. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Beattie; and several nieces and nephews. At his request, no formal services will be held.
