Bill Fortenberry

SHELBY: William “Bill” Fortenberry, 93, went to be with Jesus, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at his home. A native of Hickory, he was the son of the late Marvin and Minnie Pearl Wallace Fortenberry. He served in the US Navy, and retired form Cleveland County Club, where he served as the golf pro. After his retirement, he could be found at the Pine Grove Golf Club. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Mae Allen Fortenberry; brother, MA Fortenberry; and sisters, Mildred Beam, Dorothy Robertson, Jo Humphries, Frances Lindsey and Carolyn Hagler. He is survived by his daughter, Ellen Fortenberry; son, Billy Fortenberry and his wife Christie; granddaughters, Victoria and Hannah Fortenberry, all of Shelby; brother, Wallace Lee Fortenberry and wife Judy of GA; and his caregiver, Angel White of Grover. Funeral services will be held 2pm, Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Westview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Rick Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in Clover Hill U.M.C. Cemetery.
