MOORESBORO- Mrs. Blanche Elizabeth Allen Edmonson, 86, of 2228 Camps Creek Church Rd., died Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at Crawley Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Mattie McSwain Allen. Mrs. Edmonson was retired from the textile industry. She was a member of Westwood Heights Baptist Church and was a former longtime member of Second Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School in the children’s dept. for 42 years. Mrs. Edmonson loved to work in the yard, to write and was an avid reader of the Bible. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Donald Edmonson; and four brothers, Lt. Colonel Claude, Carson, Thomas and J.D. Allen.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by three sons, Don Edmonson and wife, Judy, of Mooresville, Rodney Edmonson and wife, Teresa of Mooresboro and “Rusty” Edmonson and wife, Sara Beth, of Wilmington; a sister, Irene Allen Fortenberry and husband, Bill of Shelby; a brother, Eugene F. Allen and wife, Loretta of Shelby; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a great-great- granddaughter; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Roberts Allen and Esther Edmondson, both of Shelby; and many nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Westwood Heights Baptist Church.
LIE-IN-STATE: The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
BURIAL: Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
