Bobbie Yates

SHELBY: Bobbie Deaton Yates, 86, died Monday, June 27, 2022 at her home. Born in Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Ollie and Essie Wilson Deaton. Bobbie was raised by her grandmother, Lessie H. Wilson and retired from the US Postal Service. She was a former member of Andrews United Methodist Church and was a devoted Christian. She loved her dogs and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Jack Yates; sons, Jackie and Robbie Yates; granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Rogers; brother, Don Deaton; and sister, Carolyn Cowart. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Yates of Shelby; son, Jeff Yates and wife Rebecca of Ithaca, NY; sister, Joyce Tatham and husband Jack of Shelby; and granddaughters, Madison Curtis and husband Jesse and Nora Yates. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM, Friday, July 1, 2022 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Marburger officiating. The family will receive friends follow the service.
