Boyd Edward Malony Sr.

March 18, 1934 — March 6, 2010

GROVER- Mr. Boyd “Toogie” Edward Maloney Sr., 75, of 2127 Cleveland Avenue, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at home. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Rev. John and Doney Scism Maloney. Mr. Maloney served in the U.S. Army for 14 years and was a member of Shelby Missionary Methodist Church. He retired from Ford Motor Company. He loved bluegrass music, southern gospel, enjoyed playing his guitar.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Rabb and Edith Shirlen; and six brothers, Paul, W.J., Ralph, Carol, Rev. Clyde, and Rev. James Elbert Maloney.


SURVIVED: He is survived by his three sons, Boyd Maloney Jr. and wife Charlotte; Greg Maloney and Catrina, all of Shelby and Nathan Maloney of Baltimore, M.D.; a daughter Robin Rittenhouse and husband Matt of Richmond, Indiana; two sisters Patsy Maloney and Doris Taylor and husband Robert all of Michigan; one brother Robert “Bob” Maloney and wife Iris of Shelby; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.


VISITATION: The family will receive friends, Monday, March 8, 2010, 6-7:30, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son Greg, 5015 Bowen Dr., Shelby, 28152.

SERVICES: Services will be held, Tuesday, March 9, 2010, 11:00 am at Shelby Missionary Methodist Church.

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park with military honors.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Shelby Missionary Methodist Church, 1402 Earl Road, Shelby, 28152

CLERGY: Rev. Danny Hunt will be officiating.
