SHELBY: Brandi Marie Mullen, born on April 8, 1990, in Wilkes County, passed away on April 14, 2025, at the age of 35 in Cleveland County. Her life, though brief, was filled with the joy of motherhood, the beauty of nature, and the warmth of love shared with family and friends.
Brandi was a devoted mother whose greatest pride and joy were her children. She leaves behind her mother, Angela Bortz, her father, Michael Matthews, beloved daughters: Alliyah Mullen, along with her boyfriend Addon Ikerd; Meckenzie Visingard, and a beautiful newborn babygirl, Avin Mullen, who came into this world as her mother departed.
Her vibrant spirit was nourished by her love for gardening. Brandi possessed a remarkable green thumb, transforming ordinary spaces into lush sanctuaries of life and color. Her gardens were a testament to her nurturing soul and her appreciation for the simple wonders of the earth.
Brandi's love extended beyond her garden to the animal kingdom, where she found great joy and companionship. She was known for her compassion towards all creatures and delighted in their company.
Cooking was another expression of Brandi's love. She found immense happiness in preparing meals for those she cherished. Her kitchen was often filled with laughter, warmth, and the comforting aromas of home-cooked dishes prepared with care.
Brandi's memory will forever be cherished by her three sisters, Amanda Lowman, Bonnie Bortz and Jennifer Matthews; her two brothers, Jeff Bortz and Mikey Matthews; and her step-brother, J.D. Bortz. They, along with her treasured friends and family, will remember her as an inspiring presence whose love and kindness touched all who knew her.
In her passing, we celebrate Brandi's life—a life lived with passion, love, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear. Her legacy lives on in her children, her gardens, and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
