Brenda Gardner Hamrick

SHELBY – Mrs. Brenda Gardner Hamrick, 70, of 1315 Crestview Dr., died Tues., Oct. 2, 2012 at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Durham Co., she was the daughter of the late Luther and Wanda Coggins Gaines. She was a member of Putnam Baptist Church, where she was active in S.W.A.T. and traveling. She enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, and volunteering in many capacities at the Senior Center. She retired from Celanese.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald Gardner Sr.; grandson, Michael Hartsoe; and two brothers, Gene and Larry Gaines.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her loving husband, Bobby Hamrick of the home; son, Gerald Gardner Jr. of Mooresboro; three daughters, Donna Garitta and husband Salvatore Jr. of Lake Lure, Sharon Willis and husband Richard of Shelby, Terra Alexander and husband Chad of Boiling Springs; step daughter, Sonja Greene and husband David of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Michelle Tischofer and husband Keven, Shannon Shaw and husband Richard, all of Conn., Brandy Gardner, Ashlee Smith and husband Chris, Gerald Gardner III, all of Shelby, Aaron and Clayton Alexander, both of Boiling Springs; step grandson, David F. Greene and wife Jemima of Md. four great-grandchildren, Tori, Kalina, Kamryn, and Cayden Tischofer; and special friends, Diane and Dennis Durant of Shelby; and her feline companions, Sissy, Tiger, Panther and Butch.

SERVICES: Funeral services will be Saturday, 3pm, at Putnam Memorial Baptist Church

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church, and other times at her home.
