SHELBY- Mr. Bruce Wendell Hamrick, 75, of 910 Lake Drive, died, Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Barney Lewis and Bertha Splawn Hamrick. He attended Shelby High School and NCSU with a major in Forestry and also served in the Army. Mr. Hamrick retired from Bowater as the assistant district forester.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Martha Hardin Hamrick; son Timothy Alan Hamrick; step-son Steve Alan Blanton; Grandson Robert Alan Blanton; and brother Herman Hamrick.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Eloise Cash Hamrick of the home; two sons Eric Hamrick of Kings Mountain and Kyle Hamrick of Shelby; two step-sons Williams Keith Blanton and Phillip Eric Blanton and wife Kathy, all of Kings Mountain; three sisters Doris Tedder of Shelby, Mary Lee and husband Robert of Charlotte, and Louise Forbes of Savannah, G.A.; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two daughter-in-laws Benita Hamrick of Shelby and Rennie Blanton of Blacksburg.
VISITATION: Visitation will be Monday, November 3, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home from 6-7:30pm
LIE IN STATE: The body will be place in the church thirty minutes prior to the service
FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 4, at Davidson Memorial Baptist Church at 2pm
INTERMENT: Burial will immediately follow in Sunset Cemetery
CLERGY: Dr. Bobby Ridge will be officiating
