Carol York

SHELBY: Carol Wellmon York, 84, died Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Elma Barnett Wellmon. Carol was a member of Zoar Baptist Church and she worked at the Lily Mill for many years, later retiring from Cleveland Regional Medical Center. She enjoyed going to the beach with her family, reading, shopping and spending time with her family. The family would like to thank the workers of hospice for all their love and care. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Doc Wellmon; and sister, Janice Lewis. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, William York of the home; daughter, Gale Willis and husband Danny of Shelby; grandchildren, Amy Patterson and husband Danny and Jake Willis and wife Meredith; great grandchildren, Sarah Jade Patterson and William Andrew Patterson; and great niece, Lacey Gaddy. Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jon Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Zoar Baptist Church or Via Hospice.
