MOORESBORO - Mrs. Cathy Champion, 59, of 127 Lucas Lane, died Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Herchel Harrill and Joyce Rippy Philbeck. She was a member of Christopher Road Baptist Church.
PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Michael “Mike” Champion and a brother, Robert Batty.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by her son Michael Champion of Trabuco Canyon, California; a daughter Mandy Mullinax and husband Robbie of Mooresboro; a sister Karen Philbeck of Shelby; two brothers Allen Philbeck and wife Lisa of Shelby, and Dallas Harrill and wife Robin of Pine Hurst, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Michaela and Lee Ann “Sissy” Mullinax both of Mooresboro; a mother and father-in-law, Virginia and Bob Champion of Shelby, 4 nieces and one nephew.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 2, 2009 from 5:30-7:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home of her sister, Karen Philbeck, 810 Orchard St., Shelby.
FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held, Thursday, September 3, 11am, at Christopher Road Baptist Church.
INTERMENT:. Burial will immediately follow in Sunset Cemetery
MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to a Charity of Donors Choice.
