Charles Haynes

March 27, 1924 — November 20, 2010

SHELBY- Mr. Charles Junior Haynes, 86, formerly of Morton St., died Sat., Nov. 20, 2010 at Peak Resources in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Charlie and Mae Wilson Haynes. Charles served in the Marines during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart for the injuries he received. He retired from the Lily Mill and later worked as a security guard at Triple D Publishing.


PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Lou Sisk Haynes; five brothers, William “Bill”, Perry, Max, Steve, and Warren Haynes; three sisters, Hester Ward, Vangie Nix, and Evelyn Greene.

SURVIVED He is survived by his loving daughter, Barbara Church and husband Michael; a sister Dorothy “Dot” Sisk, all of Shelby; two brothers, Maurice Haynes and wife Louise of Wilmington, and Larry Haynes and wife Anne of Newport News, VA; two grandchildren, Alenia Scism and husband Jimmy, and Michael Brian Church and wife Susan, all of Shelby; four great grandchildren, Courtney Scism, Kimberly Church, and Tabitha and Matthew Church, all of Shelby; and a special brother-in-law, Luther Greene of Lawndale.


SERVICES: Funeral services will be 2pm, Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2pm, Tuesday, at the funeral home

OFFICIATING: Luther Greene

BURIAL: Sunset Cemetery with military honors
