SHELBY- Mr. Charles Edwin Hendrick, 81, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at Carolinas Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late G.P. and Bertie Hamrick Hendrick. He was a lifelong member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church where he was in the Barringer Sunday School Class and various other church organizations. He also served in the Army.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 6 brothers, Herman, Bill, George, Max, Henry, and Jack Hendrick; and 5 sisters Pauline Earl, Louise Troutman, Geneva Wright, Agnes Turbeville, and Martha Champion.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy Hamrick Hendrick of the home; three daughters Jane Szymborski and husband Paul, Sandy Griffin and husband Walt, and Patti Thompson and husband John, all of Shelby, 6 grandchildren, Charlie Szymborski and wife Hayworth, Tracy Szymborski, Lee Ann Grffin, Wilson Grffin, Hannah Thompson, and Michael Thompson; three great grandchildren David Szymborski, Will Szymborski, and Cooper Shope; numerous nieces and nephews; and a sister in law Pat Darty and husband Junior.
SERVICES: Services will be held, Friday, August 6, 2010 at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, 11am, the body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends 5-7pm, Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home.
BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
