SHELBY-Charles “Lightening” D. Nalley Sr., died Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Carolinas HealthCare System-Cleveland. He was born in Henderson County, N.C., to the late Ike and Maggie Melton Foster. He was a member of Community Baptist Church. He retired from the city of Shelby where he served as a lineman and he was a loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Paula Sable; brother, Issac Nally; and sister, Polly Cole.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette Robbins Nalley, of the home; sons, Charles D. Nalley, Jr. and wife Denise of Shelby, Eric F. Nalley and wife Amanda of Smyrna, S.C.; daughter, Donna Lane and fiancé Billy Pruett of Belwood; grandchildren, Heather, Angie, Jonathan, Brandon, Casey, Matthew, Josh, Jake, Preston, Kaleb, Hunter, and Spencer; great grandchildren, Madison, Ava, Kyndall and Gabriel; several nieces and nephews; and special fur baby and companion, Ginny.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2017, at Community Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Scott Caldwell.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 6:30 p.m.
