Charles Raines Sr.

June 25, 1928 — November 23, 2012

SHELBY – Mr. Charles William Raines Sr., 84, of 1413 Lackey St., died Fri., Nov. 23, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late W.D. and Letha Grantt Raines. He retired from Hoechst Celanese and was a charter member of Westview Baptist Church.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Louise Whitaker Raines, of the home; son, Charles Raines Jr. of Shelby; daughter, Kathy Benfield and husband Eddie of Dallas; sister Peggy Earwood and husband Frank of Shelby; four grandchildren, Jason Benfield and wife Nicole of Boiling Springs, David Benfield of Newport, NC, Matthew Raines and Fiancée Juleigh Gilbert of Shelby, Katie Ringley and husband Tanner of Cary; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Owen and Noah Benfield.

SERVICES: Tuesday, 2pm, at Westview Baptist Church

VISITATION: The family will receive friend Tuesday, 12:30-2pm, at the church, and other times at his home.

CLERGY: Revs. Rick Bowling and Jim Brackett

BURIAL: Cleveland Memorial Park
