SHELBY-Charlie “Stretch” Blanton, 56, died Sunday, June 11, 2017, at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he is the son of Bobby and Ruth Davenport Blanton of Shelby. Charlie was a member of Landmark Baptist Church, the Crimson Crusaders Motorcycle Ministry, a mason and shriner, and past master of Friendship Lodge No 388. He was a truck driver for J&R Trucking.
PRECEDED: He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Allen Blanton.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife, Charlene Thomson Blanton, of the home; sons, Phillip Chad Blanton of Shelby, and Cody Summers of Asheville; daughter, Justine Summers of Shelby; sister, Patsy Clay of Shelby; brothers, Bobby Blanton Jr. and wife Becky of Shelby, Jimmy Blanton and wife Beverly of Mooresboro, and Billy Blanton and wife Linda of Boiling Springs; grandchildren, Christopher, Casey, and Cayleigh Blanton, Kiara Summers, Stella Blanton, Zaveon Milline, and one on the way; and his canine companion, JoJo.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Thursday, 1:30-3pm, at the church
FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 3pm, Thursday, at Landmark Baptist Church
OFFICIATING: Rev. Allen Davis, Rev. Andy Oliver, and Dr. J. Eric Davis
BURIAL: Will follow in Sandy Run Baptist Church Cemetery
