Chase Burton

February 15, 1992 — March 10, 2025

KINGS MOUNTAIN: On March 10, 2025, the world lost a bit of its sparkle with the passing of Steven "Chase" Burton at the youthful age of 33. Born on February 15, 1992, in Cleveland County, Chase managed to make quite the impression, leaving behind stories that will likely be told (and retold) with a knowing laugh and an affectionate eye-roll.

Chase lived true to his mantra: life is for the living, and he certainly kept everyone on their toes. A proud and hardworking landscaper by trade, he found even more joy as an enthusiastic jokester, best known for his courageous spirit and boundless energy. Much like his mom, he was always on the go, embodying the road-runner mentality without the beep-beep.

A proud dad, Chase adored his daughter Josie Paige, ensuring she grew up knowing her father as both a great dad and her biggest fan. He lived as a hero in his nephew Huxley Burton's eyes, maintaining his status as the favorite uncle and protector.

Charming and ever the ladies' man, Chase's charisma was matched only by his compassionate nature and endless curiosity — he was as much an outdoorsman reveling in fishing and hunting as he was a believer in the Lord. With a keen interest in tinkering with cars and trucks and a penchant for thrill-seeking adventures, his hobbies were as vast as the stories they inspired.

Survived by his loving mother, Tracy Wilson, and stepfather Kevin; his father Donald Wayne Burton; his brother Lukas Kyle Burton and sister-in-law Hayley Burton; daughter Josie Paige; and his cherished nephew Huxley Burton, Chase leaves behind a family bursting at the seams with cherished memories. His grandparents, Gary Lee Smith, Sherry Mobley with husband Roger, and Doris Wilson, along with an expansive extended family, are left to continue his legacy — ideally, with the same gusto and good humor Chase instilled in everyone he met.

A memorial service will be held on Friday March 14,2025 at 6:00PM at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home in Kings Mountain with Pastor Dennis Wells officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at the funeral home.

Though he's no longer with us, the stories and laughter Chase brought into our lives will echo through time. Here’s to a guy who always knew how to make an exit—full throttle, with a smile on his face, ready for whatever lay ahead.
