SHELBY- Mr. Chester “Sid” White, 83, of 5006 Pecan Drive, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John White and Mattie Guffrey Powell. He retired from Ellis Lumber Co. after 30 years of service.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Ettress Ledbetter White, son Kenneth White; three sisters Mary Denton, Essie Pruiett, and Florence White; four brothers Alton White, Charlie, Richard, and Roland Powell.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his five sons, Jimmy White and wife Anita of Shelby, David White and fiancé Tiffany of Kings Mountain, Charles White and wife Sandra of Gaffney, Morris White of Shelby, and Shannon White of the home; five daughters Imogene Glenn of Shelby, Annette Sarratt and husband Ronnie of Cliffside, Nancy Kennedy and husband Ron, Carolyn White, and Cathy White, all of Shelby. She is also survived by her 19 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
SERVICES: Funeral Services will be held, 2 pm Friday, Aug. 27th at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel
VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, and other times at the home.
BURIAL: Sunset Cemetery
CLERGY: Rev. Kenneth Queen will be officiating
