Cleatus Hunsinger

July 13, 1933 — February 16, 2023

SHELBY: Cleatus Hunsinger, 89, died Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Atrium Health Main in Charlotte. He was the son of the late Jesse Wilbert and Altas Burnett Hunsinger. Cleatus served in the Army, was a charter member of Westview Baptist Church, and a charter member of the Shelby Exchange Club. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Thomas Hunsinger; sister, Carolyn Pennington; brothers, Dr. Charles Hunsinger and Cecil Hunsinger. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Ina Hunsinger; sons, Jeff and John Hunsinger of Shelby; step-sons, Dean Wright and wife Susan of Raleigh and Ricky Wright and wife Anne of Columbia, SC; step-daughter, Wendy Rogers of Greensboro; and grandchildren, Matthew Hunsinger, Lindsay Hendrix, Evan Wright, Connor Rogers, Mason Rogers, Kendall Rogers, Morgan Wright, and Trenle Wright. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, February 18 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The family will be receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church starting at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
