CHERRYVILLE- Mr. Clyde Odell Stroup, 85, of 112 Sula Drive, died Saturday, February 23, 2008 at home. A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Pearl Green Stroup. He was retired from Fiber Industries and later worked at Security Forces as a Security Guard. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Donald Reed Stroup and Mike McAllister; and his brothers, Clarence Stroup and Carl Stroup.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife, Georgia Gaffney Stroup, of the home; four daughters, Wanda Ward of Grover, Jackie Peterson and husband, Edward, and Diana Wilson and husband, Harold, all of Shelby, and Lynne Baker and husband, Wayne, of Hickory; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Ben Gaffney and wife, Debbie, of Mississippi.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m., Monday, February 25, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
BURIAL: Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
