SHELBY-Donald “Don” Bridges, 87, died Friday, June 6, 2014, at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late James Colbert and Tula Bell Bridges. He served in the Army during WWII, having fought in the Battle of Luzon. He retired from Dover Textiles, and had a love for hunting, fishing, boating, archery, bowling, and riding motorcycles.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his eight brothers and sisters.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Faye L. Bridges, of the home; son, Donald Chris Bridges and fiance Janet Fortenberry of Kings Mountain; daughter, Mitzi Carol Brown and boyfriend, Billy Dellinger of Cherryville; two sisters, Rachel Greene of Shelby and Louise Bridges of Hickory; brother, Ray Bridges of Shelby; two grandchildren, Shan Black and wife Michelle of Cherryville and Ashley Black Harris; five great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
