PAWLEY’S ISLAND, SC: Donna Klinger Tidwell, 89, died Monday, September 16, 2024 at Tidelands Community Hospital. Born in Chicago, IL to the late John and Edith Klinger, Donna grew up dairy farming in Wisconsin and South Carolina and spent most of her adult life living in Shelby before moving to Pawley’s Island. From raising and showing Holsteins to her pet duck named Penny as a child, her love of animals continued into her adult life caring for several pets with her sons. Donna graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, she worked for Shelby City Schools in the special education department and as secretary at Calvary Baptist and Northside Baptist Churches. Donna had many joys in life including traveling, eating a good meal, and going on adventures with her family and friends, she also enjoyed nature and nature shows. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Tidwell; and grandson, Josh Carle. She is survived by her sons, William Tidwell and wife Barbara of Georgetown, SC and Charles Tidwell and wife Sandy of Gastonia; brother, Arthur Klinger and wife Cynthia; grandchildren, Lindy, John and Jacob Tidwell and Chris and Michael Carle; great-grandchildren, Connor, Autumn and August Tidwell and Catie, Jaden, Easton, and Deliliah Carle; and special sister-in-law, Marion Donley. A graveside service will be held at 12:00PM Friday, September 20,2024 at Sunset Cemetery with Pastor David Costner officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to ASPCA, St. Jude’s and Tideland’s Community Hospice.
