SHELBY- Mrs. Doris I. Hovis, 86, formerly of Parkwood Road and Lattimore St., died Friday, January 4, 2008 at Pardee Care Center in Flat Rock. She was a native of New York City, daughter to the late Deltry Craig and Minnie Dicker Ingledew. Mrs. Hovis worked in finance for the Federal Government in Washington, DC, and was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. She had been a resident of Shelby for 30 years.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Merritt Hovis.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by a daughter, June Phillips and her husband Douglas, of Flat Rock; two grandchildren, Dr. Ben Phillips and his wife Joelyn of Houston, Texas, and Dr. Rebecca Phillips of Columbia, SC; and two great-grandchildren, Robert and Caroline Phillips, both of Texas.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Elizabeth Baptist Church.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Elizabeth Baptist Church.
BURIAL: Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
