SHELBY: Doris Witherspoon Lynn, 92, died Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Hospice of Carolina Foothills. Born in Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Moses and Sallie Summit Witherspoon. She retired from Young’s Furniture and was a member of Boiling Springs Community Church on Main, where she enjoyed attending church with her husband. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Richard Brent Lynn Sr.; sisters, Pat Houser, Polly Chiswell, and Ruby and Virginia Witherspoon; and brother, Arthur Witherspoon. She is survived by her son, Richard Brent Lynn Jr. and wife Joyce; daughter, Jeanne Ellis and husband Scott, both of Shelby; grandchildren, Molly Kendrick, Stephanie Ellis-Martin and husband Alex and Bradley Ellis; great grandchildren, Ryder, Gavin and Brent; nieces and nephews, David Lynn, Julie Tillman, Janet Pittard, David Chiswell, Rachel White and Walter Pharr; and a special thank you to her caregiver, Tabitha Morris. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM, Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Teresa Ramsey-Blanton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial will be private to the family in Cleveland Memorial Park.
