SHELBY: Doris Campbell Tate, 87, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at her home. Born January 19, 1930, in Tirzah (York County), SC, she was the daughter to the late Sam Watson Campbell and Lila Lee Campbell. She grew up in Rock Hill, where she graduated from Winthrop Training School in 1946, and Winthrop College in 1950. She married Fred A. Tate in 1950. They moved to Shelby in 1970 and were active members of John Knox Presbyterian Church.
PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, and her husband of 49 years, Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by her sister, Betty C. Ross of Surfside Beach, SC.
SURVIVED: She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn T. Odom and Jean T. Hiebert, both of Shelby; sisters, Ann C. Tennant of Alcolu, SC, and June C. Dawson of Mount Pleasant, SC; brother, S. Lynn Campbell of Rock Hill; grandsons, John J. Odom of Clearwater, FL, and William T. Hiebert of Greensboro; and great-grandson, Alexander J. Odom of Kings Mountain.
GRAVESIDE SERVICES: A graveside service will be held 11a.m., Thursday, in Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill, SC., with Rev. Tim Ware will officiating.
