Dorothy Mae Bridges

August 12, 1930 — March 18, 2010

SHELBY- Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Mae Bridges, 79, of 162 Pleasant Ridge Church Road, died Thursday, March 18, 2010 at home. A native of Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Paul Adam “P.A.” Sr. and Donnie Campbell Brantley. She was formerly employed at Diana Shop, Kenwin Shop, and Family Dollar Stores. She was a member of Normans Grove Baptist Church and attended Cornerstone Baptist Church. She had a love for flowers.


PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Hoyt Bridges; and brother Paul Adam Brantley Jr.


SURVIVED: She is survived by her four daughters, Brenda Stevens and husband John of Cherryville, Cynthia Fortson and husband Michael of Kings Mountain, Wanda McSwain and husband Ray of Shelby, and Sandra Pruett and husband Ricky of New House; three sisters Madge Blanton, Juanita Philbeck, and Edna Greene, all of Shelby; four grandchildren Mark Dyer and wife Misty, Heather Webb and husband James, all of Shelby; “T.R.” Pruett of New House, and Angel Scruggs and husband Emmett of Mooresboro; and nine great grandchildren.


VISITATION: The family will receive friends 90 minutes prior to the service, at the funeral home, and other times at the home.

SERVICES: A funeral will be held 3pm Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
