KINGS MOUNTAIN- Rev. Doug Allen, 67, won his battle over cancer in glorious victory when our Lord called him home on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Testa Family Hospice. A native of Rutherford Co., he was born to the late James and Crittie Summers Allen. Pastor Allen spent over forty years in the gospel ministry, was a former municipal fire chief and past President of the NC Association of Municipal Fire Executives, Albemarle Fireman’s Association, Kings Mountain Ministerial Association president, Member of the Church Institute of Theologians, and a cum laude graduate of UNC at Chapel Hill where he received the George Franklin award for Scholar Excellence. Pastor Allen taught and authored in several fields including theology, physics, hydraulics, math, history, human nature and biblical studies. He was the chaplain for the Kings Mountain Police Department and Gaston Memorial Hospital. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jewell McGuin. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 27 years, Susan Allen of the home; son Matthew Allen of Kings Mountain; daughter Allison Allen Diaz and husband Osvaldo of Orlando, Fl; sisters Doris Fortune and Dorothy Haynes of Inman, SC and Cindy Burgess and husband Jim of Fl; brother Frank Allen of Inman, SC; one grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday February 25, 2019 at Penley’s Chapel. The family will receive friends after the service. Bishop Roger Woodard, Rev.
