Doug Gold

SHELBY: Benjamin “Doug” Gold, 75, died Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Griffin and Ellie Campbell Gold. Doug served in the Army and worked for Porter Brother’s and later served as a Cleveland County Magistrate. He enjoyed playing softball and was an avid Shelby High School sports fan. He was known as a loving man to his family who was always tenderhearted. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Klementine Gold; and brothers, Robert, James and Dan Gold. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Madeline Blanton Ledford Gold of the home; sons, Andre Bloom and wife Lisa of Blacksburg and Steve Gold and wife Gina of Boiling Springs; daughter, Martina Bloom of Waco; step-son, Chris Ledford of Shelby; sisters, Lib Revels and Margaret Cummings, both of Shelby; brothers, Bill Gold and wife Pat of Forest City and Phil Gold and wife Diana of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with Minister Gary Bryant officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
