SHELBY-Dwight Rogers, 73, of 812 Poplar Springs Church Rd., died Thurs., Dec. 19, 2013 at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late James Boyd and Edna Willis Rogers. He worked many years as a carpenter and had a passion for fishing, while being with his buddies, Howard, Mike, Buster, and Tubby.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Kenneth Rogers; three sister, Barbara Rogers, Carolyn Holland, and Dot Parker.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Parker Rogers, of the home; daughter, Myra Rogers Hollifield and her daughter Wendy Nichole Hollifield of Shelby, daughter Pamela Joanne Fortenberry and her sons, Wayne Mayhue, Zach and Noah Lovelace; brother, J.B. Rogers and wife Joyce; four sisters, Velma Mills, Peggy Lail, all of Shelby, Brenda Hopper of Charleston, SC, and Shirley Wacaster and husband Butch of Shelby; many great-grandchildren; and his pugs, Buddy and Sweetie.
SERVICES: Saturday, 1PM, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Saturday, 11:30-1PM, at the funeral home, and other times at his home.
