Ed Heinz

August 17, 1941 — October 12, 2016

SHELBY- Edward “Soupy” Heinz, 75, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at his residence. A native of Alleghany County, PA, he was the son of the late John J. and Mildred Jones Heinz. Ed graduated from Norwin High School in 1959, and graduated from Slippery Rock State College in 1964, with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He retired from Hoechst Celanese as AMG Manufacturing Manager in 1997.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Loretta Adams.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his sweet wife, Kathy O’Rourke Heinz, of the home; three beautiful daughters, Melody Heflin and husband Danny of Cliffside, Michaele Yaklin and husband David of San Angelo, TX, and Wendy Walker and husband Vance of Anthem, AZ; grandchildren, Brent Heflin and wife Kayla, Keith Yaklin and wife Carla, Vaughn Walker and wife Katy-Marie, Chelsey Guilliams and husband Christian, Kevin Yaklin, Bethany Yaklin, Miranda Walker; great-grandchild, Brooke Heflin.

SERVICES: A gathering and time of sharing for family and friends will be held from 5-7 pm Friday Oct. 21, 2016 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials may be made to The American Red Cross, 1333 Fallston Rd, Shelby, NC 28150 OR Hope’s Chest, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that relies on donations from individuals or businesses to continue helping with the medical needs of homeless animals in Cleveland County, N.C. and surrounding areas, 1042 Sam Lattimore Rd. Shelby, NC 28152 or www.hopeschestinc.org
