SHELBY- Mrs. Edna F. Kollmeyer ,87, of 106 Hawk Ridge Ct., was guided by her angels to go home on Monday, October 26, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Mercer County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Kyle and Pearl Adkinson Ruby. She attended the University of Miami and during WWII, was a clerk at the Annex Post Office. Mrs. Kollmeyer also served as Secretary for the Miami Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. After moving to Shelby, she served for two years as the past President of the Cleveland County Chapter of Mother’s Against Drunk Driving and volunteered at the Monday morning soup kitchen at Shelby Presbyterian Church. She was a member at Zoar Baptist Church.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Kollmeyer, a sister, Mary Good, and three brothers, Melvin Jewell Ruby, Lloyd Ruby, and Lee Ruby.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by a daughter, Mary Eberle, and husband, Gabriel, of the home; two grandchildren, Robert G. Eberle of Decatur, GA, and Timothy P.H. Eberle and wife, Rebecca, of Raleigh; extended family, Steve and Lorraine Shapcott, Lisa Shapcott, Kristy Shapcott and husband, Ray Webster, Craig Shapcott, and Nancy Raley; one honorary great-grandchild, Nyree Shapcott-Webster; special neighbors, Norma and Bill Meyers; and special animals, Momma Cat, Boy, Scruffy, and Dutch Eberle.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the home.
VIEWING: Mrs. Kollmeyer will be available for viewing on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park.
BURIAL: Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
OFFICIATING CLERGY: Chaplain Janet Martin will officiate.
