Edna D. Southard

SHELBY- Mrs. Edna Southard, 90, formerly of West Dixon Blvd., died August 15, 2011 at Brian Center of Brevard. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Lero and Stella Diviney Downs. She was a member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church.
PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Norris Southard; and two brothers, Ellis Downs and Leonard Downs.
SURVIVED: She is survived by one sister, Mae Kendrick formerly of Shelby; three nieces, Barbara Biggerstaff of Shelby, Beth Hanson of Carrollton GA, and Gail Thompson of Charlotte.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 4pm, Thursday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel of Shelby.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 3pm.
CLERGY: Dr. Thomas Steagald will be officiating.
BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Dr. Shelby, NC 28150.
