GROVER- Mrs. Elizabeth Capps Brown, also known as “Memaw”, 78, of 130 Ben Davis Rd., died Sunday, May 20, 2007 at home. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Sloan and Myrtle Graham Capps. She was retired from K.M. Knit and was a member of Trinity Church of the Living God.
PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Freck” Brown; two sisters, Bertha Mauney and Mildred Kiser; and three brothers, Garwood, Henry and Lester Capps.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by two sons, Carl Melton and wife, Wanda of Waterloo, SC and Larry Melton and wife, Helen of Grover; a daughter, Sybil Jones and husband, Turk of Kings Mountain; a sister, Louise Capps Hardin of Shelby; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jimmy Melton and Tammy, Tammy Irvin and Toney, and Ronnie Costner, all of Grover, Tony Melton and Sheila of Shelby, Casey Jones and Laura and Terry Jones Jr., all of Kings Mountain, and Travis Odell of Waterloo, SC; eight great grandchildren, Mickey and Matthew Melton, Jacob Miller, Aiden Melton, Cassey, Dustin and Erika Jones and Ryan Costner.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 22, 2007 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Trinity Church of the Living God.
LIE-IN-STATE: The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
BURIAL: Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
OFFICIATING CLERGY: The Rev. Freddie Grigg will officiate.
