Elma Vassey

SHELBY: Elma Vassey, 49, died Saturday, June 10, 2023 at her home. Born in the Philippines, she was the daughter of Epifania Candame of Shelby and the late Elias Candame. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Candame. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving husband, Thurman “Moran” Vassey Jr.; sons, Franklin Moran Vassey and Luke Thurman Vassey; daughter, Angel Grace Vassey, all of the home; brothers, Nonito and Angelito Candame; mother-in-law, Dorothy Vassey; sister-in-law, Joanne Thomas, both of Shelby; and 55 cousins. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sharon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
