Ethel Burgess Burton

July 31, 1932 — October 30, 2018

SHELBY: Ethel Julia Burgess Burton, 86, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Atrium Health in Shelby. A native of Anderson County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas William and Rossie Amandaline Simpson Burgess. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyce Burton.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her loving daughter, Karen Burton, of Shelby; sister, Irene Wilson of Anderson, SC; special friends, Sue Allen and husband Doug of Gastonia, Vicky Huntsinger and husband Mike, and Carol Morrow and husband Archie, all of Shelby. The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at Cleveland Pines for all their love and care they extended.

GRAVESIDE SERVICES: A graveside service will be held 11am, Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, in Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends 9:30-10:30am, Thursday, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

OFFICIATING: Rev. Tim Setzer will officiate

MEMORIALS: Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Dr., Shelby, NC 28150 or Cleveland Pines Nursing Center Activities Fund, 1404 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC 28150
