Ethel Hord

Shelby- Mrs. Ethel P. Hord, 85, of 120 Morton St., died Monday, May 7, 2007 at Carloinas Medical Center in Charlotte. She was a native of Cleveland County and a daughter to the late James Seth and Cora Dale Patterson. She was a graduate of Mitchell College and an office manage and bookkeeper for several textile mills, retiring from Doran Computer Center. She was a member of Lily Memorial Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, and was a former member of Second Baptist Church of Shelby. She was an accomplished artist working in ceramics and loved to play the piano and organ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death be her husband, Pinkney G. Ledford and a sister, Vergie Lail.
She is survived by her brother, Tom Patterson and his wife Kitty of Shelby; two sisters, Frances Wright and her husband Tom of Shelby and Aileen Cox of Abbeville, SC; numberous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Judy Carr; and her faithful canine companion, "Angel".
Services are private to the family.
