SHELBY- Mrs. Ethel Turner Piercy, 85, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, July 5, 2010. A native of Barrow County, GA., she was the daughter of the late James Arthur Lee and Sallie Mealer Turner. She retired from Esther Mill and was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, and canning her vegetables, especially her green beans. She was an excellent seamstress, her hands where never idle, she was a go getter.
PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband William Roscoe Piercy; three brothers Lee Elmer Turner, Edward Turner, and D.L. Turner; three sisters, Marcelle Breakfield, Cozetta Moore, and Frances Chapman; and one son-in-law Dennis Lipscomb.
SURVIVED: She is survived by four daughters, Mildred Ledbetter and husband Robert, Margaret Lipscomb, Marjorie Nanney and husband Dr. Ron, all of Shelby, and Marceline Blanton and husband Cleo of Boiling Springs; five grandsons, Robert Ledbetter Jr. and wife Kim, Steve Ledbetter and wife Kim, Mitch Lipscomb and wife Sharon, Dr. Chris Nanney and wife Danielle, and Phillip Blanton and wife Beth; four granddaughters, Amy Green and husband Chris, Barbara Boyce, Lori Spurling and husband Mark, and Audrey Deaton and husband Jamie; 18 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Pauline Turner.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends, Thursday, July 8, 10-11am, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.
SERVICES: Services will be held, Thursday, July 8, 11am, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.
BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park
MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to Mt. Sinai Baptist Church building fund, 1227 Mt. Sinai Church Road, Shelby.
CLERGY: The Rev. Tim Trexler will be officiating.
